Farmer’s Markets

We are so lucky in St. Louis to have  a wealth of opportunities to shop at markets from Farmers all over Missouri.  These markets offer the shopper a chance to obtain fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, cheeses, herbs, fish and so much more at an unbelievable price.  Local farmers not only offer fresh food, but the experience of getting out with friends and family to enjoy a day of sharing our love of food!

Shopping at local markets supports local growers and small businesses, and continues to expand our consumer choices for healthy, fresh food.  Spring, summer, and fall you can find tons of fun market and nursery events that attract visitors to shop and socialize locals areas  such as Tower Grove, Overland, Ferguson, Webster Groves, and Hartke Nursery.

Find your favorites or seek out seasonal produce to supplement your grocery shopping experience at a great price.  Enjoy fun activities such as musicians, art, yoga, and cooking demonstrations.  Market vendors can also assist you in choosing the best selections and learning how to properly prepare and cook tasty foods you’ve always wanted to try but don’t know how to make.  Never cooked a acorn squash?  Ask the produce guys for his cooking tips!

Check out your local paper, internet, or keep your eyes pealed for signs along your daily drive for special events. One of my favorite resources include the Healthy Planet Magazine paper as it regularly prints a Growers and Market Guide with farms, markets, and events.  Pick one and make a plan to visit on your next weekend out!
